4 Real Salt Lake players called for FIFA matches

SANDY, Utah (AP) -Real Salt Lake players Kyle Beckerman, Nick Rimando, Alvaro Saborio and Will Johnson have been called up by their respective national teams for FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.

Midfielder Beckerman and goalkeeper Rimando have been called up by the U.S. squad while forward Saborio will help Costa Rica and midfielder Johnson his native Canada.

The qualifying matches are Friday and Oct. 16.

Also, 18-year-old midfielder Luis Gil has been called up to the U.S. under-20 team for the Marbella Cup in Spain.

All five should be back for Real Salt Lake's next game Oct. 17 at Seattle.

The club then takes on Costa Rican champions C.S. Herediano in a must-win CONCACAF Champions League match Oct. 23 at home before its MLS regular-season finale against Vancouver on Oct. 27.
