Ways To Deal With Normal Grief - Self Improvement - Middleton ...

Grief is a multifaceted response to a loss. Loss is an inevitable part of life and overcoming that grief is a cycle. A normal grief is a stage where the person suffers from a lot number of mixed feelings like anguish, pain, preoccupation, tearfulness, guilt, sadness. A normal grief is certainly not depression. Grief can have many reasons like loss of a loved one, end of a long relationship etc. It does not have any parameters because the reaction depends on the extent of loss. And so is the time taken to get over the Loss. For example the extent and the time required to get over thepain because of death of a spouse cannot be compared to the pain for the loss of a pet. Hence grief is said to be a multidimensional reaction and its dimensions cannot be defined. Grief does not end within a specific time period it is a process defining the various stages a person goes through before his mental balance is restored.

Ways to deal with normal grief

Grief over a loss does not end in a day. It fades with time as people get used to the reality and get more embroiled in their normal life than the feeling which is bothering them. But there are many ways a person can distract himself from the pain. Like listening to music, painting, exercise, talking to a friend, reading, sculpturing etc help a lot. Counseling and meditation also help relieving the pain and help the person feel light. These are various ways a person can deal with the grief but it depends on what suits them the best. A person who does not have an inclination towards painting cannot distract himself by indulging in it. Some people even go to orgies, party hard, go shopping, watch movies to get over the grief.

Conclusion

Dealing with grief is all about making oneself used to the fact that the loss is irreversible and nothing can be undo it. The rest that entails is various ways a person resorts to get his normal state of mind back. There is no specific algorithm for it. It goes with the spontaneity which helps him restore the normal state of mind.
